DESCRIPTION: At-grade absorption areas are an alternative to elevated sand mound systems and are approved for use in PA as an alternate system. The focus of this half day, 3-credit course will be to describe the technical concept and site testing requirements for at-grade absorption areas particularly in comparison to elevated sand mound systems. General design criteria will be presented as well as more detailed absorption area design elements for both the level and sloped at-grade absorption areas. The importance of equalizing flows for sloped systems will be discussed as well as construction and installation techniques, SEO inspections, and system maintenance. Completion of the seminar officially delegates SEOs to independently review and issue permits or at-grade absorption areas.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: This training is approved by PADEP for 3 SEO credits total.
